A selection of early realist work, categorized by subject.  My interest was in searching out and conveying the dramatic relationships and formal dynamics between objects in the perceived environment, resulting in the elevation of the commonplace through illumination and careful formal arrangement.   Initially, the image quality borrowed heavily from the quality of photographs:  Soft, sometimes chromatic, edges; areas of over- and underexposure; a smoothly blended, "brushless" surface.  A growing interest in the richer quality of paint and brushwork led to a loser, more painterly approach in later work.

While pre-dating my aerial landscapes, some of these, still in my possession, have been continuously reworked up to the present.
