In some of the old cities of northern and eastern Europe, grand townhouses as well as otherwise modest homes are embellished with elaborate Baroque gables.  These photographs, based on buildings in Poland, Holland and Germany, bring the viewer's attention to the "space between" and the ways in which the architectural scrollwork frames and shapes the sky.
